OVERVIEW
The Federal Himalaya SUV Snow is a touring, winter tire manufactured for SUVs and passenger vehicles.
The model improves the winter weather performance. The detailed directional tread design and the stronger winter compound increase the cold temperature dry, wet and winter weather performance. The high-density siping detail provides additional biting edges gripping the ice- and snow-covered road surface, while the compound keeps its rubber flexibility in freezing temperatures. The tire is pinned for studs, which can be added to further increase the ice and snow grip and traction during the tire’s winter weather performance. The zigzag circumferential and angled lateral grooves prevent hydroplaning by dispersing water and slush from below the footprint, enhancing the wet and slushy road surface driving safety.
The tread design’s optimal elements also manage to improve the controllability. The double center rib closely follows the road surface while the tires are in motion, enabling the tire’s better steering responsiveness and driving stability. As a result, the steering becomes quicker and more accurate, while the structure is secured against the driving pressure affecting the model. The optimal shoulder tread block placement, with the detailed siping design, increases the cornering and maneuvering ability. They boost the number of biting edges gripping the road surface and enhance the cornering power. The directional tread design’s high-density siping pattern creates friction between the road and the tire at the moment of braking by boosting the traction, which enables the tire to reduce the braking distance. This combination ensures the driver’s full control over the vehicle at all times.
The Himalaya SUV Snow increases the length of the tread life significantly. The stronger winter compound and the optimal surface contact work together to ensure a slower and even wear pattern. The compound decreases the tread wear rate with the stronger wear-resistant elements. On the other hand, the tread design prevents irregular wear formations by evenly distributing the driving pressure along the tread area. As a result, the tire guarantees a lengthened usability and service life.
Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
